3.6.2. Tillering pattern
When the fifth leaf on the main culm emerges, the first leaf of the first tiller comes from the axil of the second leaf on that clum. Primary(P) tillers come from the main stem. Secondary(S) tillers develop from primary tillers. Tertiary(T) tillers develop from secondary tillers. The lower the point of origin on the main stem, the older is the tiller.
