제68강. 형용사의 기타용법

 

1.형용사의 명사적 용법

- the + 형용사

- The poor are not always unhappy. 가난한 사람들이 항상 불행한 것은 아니다. 복수명사

- The good is more important than the beautiful .선은 미보다 중요하다. 추상명사

- The accused looks honest. 피고는 정직해 보였다. 단수명사

 

2.목적어를 취하는 형용사

- The farm land looked like a jungle. 농지가 정글처럼 보였다. 잘 가꾸지 않아서.

- Dr. Ryu is unlike any other man. 유 박사는 다른 사람과는 다르다. 다른 게  무엇이 있겠는가. 문장을 만들어 봤다.

- The noise is like to drive me crazy. 소음 때문에 미칠 것 같다.

- The house is worth 150,000 dollars. 그 집은 150,000 달러의 가치가 있다.

   It is a task worth the trouble. 그 어려움을 격을 가치가 있는 일

   It is not worth a straw. 일고의 가치도 없다.

   He is worth at least a million dollars. 그는 최소한 백만 달러의 재산이 있다.

 

3.전치사 + 형용사, 부사구의 역할

- In general(generally), the rich are happier than the poor. 일반적으로

- I didn't see the lady of late (lately). 최근에 그 여자를 보지 못했다.

 

4.형용사가 전치사구, to부정사, that절을 보어로 취하는 경우

- He is fond of her. 좋아 한다

- I am afraid to do it. 싫다

- She is anxious to start lately. 하고 싶다.

- She is ignorant of the fact. 모른다.

- It is gallant of you to save her face. 그녀 체면 세워줘서 고맙다

- I was sure that he would come if I asked him. that 이하를 확신했다.
