10.1.2. Damages
Chewing insects eat plant tissues and holes in plant bodies. Some insects destroy rice plants. Stem borers cause dead hearts and white heads. Sucking insects pierce plant tissue and suck plant sap. Plant hoppers and leaf hoppers transmit virus diseases. Some insects cause hopper burn, wilting, and loss of the green color of rice plants.
