10.1.1. Insect pests of rice
Generally there are two types of insects which are chewing insects and sucking insects. The important insects in rice vegetative and reproductive stages are whorl maggots, planthoppers, grasshoppers, stemborers, armyworms, leafhoppers, leaffolders, etc. The insects in rice ripening stage are seed bugs and panicle mites.
