8.2. Water source and loss
Water for irrigation essentially comes from the rain. Surface water from creeks, streams, rivers, and lakes is used for irrigating. The components of water needed to grow lowland rice are transpiration, evaporation, percolation, seepage, and surface drainage. Transpiration means the evaporation of water through plant surfaces.
