7.6.1. Functions
Potassium is not a constituent of any organic compound of plants. However, it is a cofactor for many enzymes. Potassium favors tillering and increases the grain size and the weight. It plays an important role in tolerance to unfavorable climatic conditions and renders resistance to disease such as blast.
