7.5.1. Functions

Phosphorous is necessary for root development, which makes rice plants more resistant to drought. Phosphorous promotes flowering and ripening under cool climatic condition. Phosphorous stimulates active tillering and good grain development. Dut to its mobility, the visible symptoms of Phosphorous deficiency appear in old leaves, which turn brown.
