3.6.8. Nitrogen level affects tillering
A function of nitrogen in rice plants promotes rapid growth or increased height and tiller number. Rice plants require a large amount of nitrogen at the early and mid- tillering stages to increase tiller number. But too much nitrogen can increase the incidence of diseases and lodging.
