제73강. 형용사, 부사의 비교급 기타용법

 

1. 비교급 + and +  비교급

- It's getting colder and colder day by day. 점점더 추워지고 있다.

- The football game becomes more and more exciting. 점점더 열광되고 있다.

2. no more than( only) / not more than(at most)

-  She has no more than two pens. 그녀는 펜이 2개만 있다.

-  She has not  more than two pens. 그녀는 기껏해야 펜이 2 개 뿐이다.

   

3. no less than( as many/much as)뭐 만큼이나, not less than(at least)적어도

- She has read no less than five books. 열권이나 읽었다.

- She has read not less than five books. 적어도 10권을 읽었다.

4. A is no more B than C is D. C가 D가 아닌 것 처럼, A도 B가 아니다.

- I am no more a musician than you are ( a musician)

  네가 음악가가 아닌 것 처럼 나도 음악가가 아니다.

- She is no more surprised than you are.그녀도 당신도 놀라지 않았다.양자부정

- She is no less surprised than you are.그녀도 당신도 모두 놀랐다. 양자긍정

 

5. A - no less + 원급 + than B, A가 B 못지 않다.

-  Water is no less important than food. 물이 음식 못지않게 중요하다.

6. much more(still more)더욱더 / much less(still less)더욱아니다.

- I like playing piano, much more singing.

  나는 피아노 치기를 좋아하고, 노래 부르기는 더욱 좋아한다.

- I can not play a piano, much less violin.나는 파아노를 못친다.

  바이올린은 더 더욱 못친다.

7. 비교급의 최상급 표현

- Air is more important than any other thing.

- Air is more important than all the other things.

- Air is more important than anything else.

- 공기가 어떤 것 보다도 중요하다.

 

8. 기타 표현들

- I am no longer smoking. I am not smoking any longer.

   나는 더 이상 담배를 피우지 않는다.

- Tom will come back from Ghana sooner or later. 조만간 올 것이다.

- She is more or less talkative. 그녀는 다소 수다스럽다.

-  He is no better than a heavy drunk. 술 주정뱅이나 다름 없다.
