  Too much fertilizer in the seedbed may result in very tall, weak seedlings and increased chances of seedlings being attacked by diseases, such as rice blast. Since the nursery period in tropical regions of the world, such as South Asia and  Southeast Asia, is only for 10 to 20 days, use of fertilizer is usually not practiced.
