제71강. 형용사, 부사의 원급용법

1. as + 원급 + as / not as(so) + 원급 + as

- My room is  as large as  yours . 내방은 네 방처럼 크다. My room is  not so/as large as  yours. 내방은 네 방처럼 크지 않다.

- He sings  as well as  my friend. 그는 내 친구처럼 노래를 잘 한다.

- You can skate  as  well as  I can. 너는 나처럼 스케이트를 잘 탄다.

- He is diligent and intelligent as well. 그는 부지런하고, 또한 지적이다.

2. 배수사 + as + 원급 + as

- My room is two times  as large as  yours. 내방은 네 방보다 2배 크다.

- My room is twice  as large as  yours. 내방은 네 방보다 2배 크다.

- My room is half as large as  yours. 내방은 네 방의 반이다. 

- He has half as many books as I have. 그는 내 책의 반만큼의 책을 가지고 있다.

- She spent four times as much money as I. 그녀가 쓴 돈은 내가 쓴 돈의 4배이다.

3. as + 원급 + as + possible( one can)

- I will try to do for Ghana as many as possible / I can. 내가 할 수 있는 가능한 많이 가나를 위해 일할 것이다. 본인은 현재 아프리카  가나를 위해 어떤 일을 하고 있다.

- Stay in Ghana as long as possible / you can. 가나에서 할 수 있는 한 오래 머물러라. 단지 문장을 만들어 봤다. 외국에서 오래 있는다는 것은 어렵다.

- I'll try and give you as clear an account as I can of what he thinks. 그가 어떻게 생각하고 있는가를 될 수 있는 대로 명확히 설명하겠다. (박만상 고급영어)

4. as + 원급 + as any (other) / as + 원급 + as ever

- He is as intelligent as any other in the office. 그는 그 사무실에서 누구 못지않게 지적이다. 최상급 표현으로 아래와 같은 의미. He is the most intelligent man in the office.

- Dr. Ryu is  as  obliging  as ever. 여전히, 대단히. 유 박사는 언제나처럼 자상한 사람이다. 최상급의 의미 포함

- Dr. Ryu was as good a research officer as ever trod on the experimental farm. 유 박사는 누구 보다 못지않은 연구자였다. 최상급 의미. 실용성 있는 영어 학습을 위해 본인에 대한 예를 들고 있는데. 예일 뿐이다.

5. no/nothing 등 so/as + 원급 + as, 최상급의 의미

- No the man is as tall as Brown. 어떤 사람도 브라운 만큼 크지 않다.

- No commemoration day is as important as Gaecheonjeol. 어떤 기념일도 개천절만큼 중요하지 않다.

6. not so much A as B. A라기 보다는 B

- Dr. Ryu is not so much a rice doctor as a musician. Dr. Ryu is rather a musician than a rice doctor. 유 박사는 쌀 전문 박사라기보다는 음악가이다. 그냥 표현을 해 봤습니다.

- not so much A as B = not A so much as B = B rather than A = rather B than A = more of B than A = A less than B

7. as many/much as ...만큼

- He reads as many as five news papers a day. 하루에 5개의 신문을 본다.

- I ate as many as five apples. 나는 자그마치 사과를 다섯 개 먹었다.

- He makes easy money as much as fifty thousand dollars a month. 그는 한 달에 오만 달라 나 돈을 쉽게 번다. 제가 아는 70대 남자분이 있는데 한 달에 삼천만원 이상 수입이 있다고 하는데, 능력이 대단합니다.

- She can not so much as write her own name. 이름조차 못 쓴다.
