3) Broadcasting in water 101

  Land preparation is basically the same as in case of transplanting. After plowing, the field has to be well puddled and leveled. Before broadcasting, the field has to be flooded up to about 2 cm deep. And then pregerminated seeds(soaked for 24 hours and incubated for 24 hours) should be uniformly broadcasted by hand or a machine. Too muddy water is not recommended.

Particles of the mud in water have to be settled for 12-24 hours before scattering the rice seeds. The rate of seeding is about 100 kg seeds for one hectare of field. In case of large-scale rice farming in California, U.S.A., soaked seeds(18-24 hours) are broadcasted by airplains into fields that have been flooded to a depth over 15 cm.
