 1.4.  Rice production

World rice production averaged  598 million metric tons with a yield 3.89 tons per hectare in 2000. Countries having the largest rice production ranked in order are : China with 190, India with 134, and Indonesia with 51 million tons. These three countries account for 62.7% of world rice production.
