○ Age of seedlings

- Photoperiod sensitive varieties : 40-50 days

- Wet bed seedlings : 20-30 days

- Dapog nursery : 10 days

- Older seedlings

· sufferring from stem and root injury

· reducing tillering

· prolonging maturity

· reducing grain yield

- Korea : 10-30 days in machine transplanting

40 days in hand transplanting before 1970’s

○ Handling of seedlings

- Flooding wet and dry seedbed 1 day before pulling

- Handling of seedlings with care avoiding stem and root injury
